Hello. I have installed Dorico 6.1 on a very old Mac. The installation seems to be successful, but when I run Dorico some of the UI elements appear blank. For instance, the Hub opens, but is just a blank window. Same with the Library Manager. I could get by without these things, but unfortunately the Toolbar and Toolbox elements of the main Project window also appear blank. (see the attached screenshots). The “buttons” are there but invisible - if you click randomly in the blank area the panels change and/or expected functions are executed. You just can’t see what you’re pressing. Most elements are fine - e.g. the score, the Zones, the Layout, Engraving, Notation preferences all display fine.
You may well ask: why am I doing this? Next week my current M2 laptop is going back to Apple for repair, and I’ll be bereft of a machine for some weeks. So I’m trying to temporarily repurpose an old iMac in order to keep working until my laptop comes home. The old Mac is an “iMac Retina 5k 27 inch late 2014” - yeah, very old. This model only supports up to MacOS 11 Big Sur which won’t run Dorico, but I’ve used OpenCore Patcher (which basically fools the OS installer into thinking it’s a newer Mac) to install and run MacOS Sequoia. Everything seems to work fine, if a little slowly, and these few problems in Dorico are the only issues I’m having. Which is a shame, since the only reason I’m doing any of this is to keep running Dorico … ![]()
I know what I’m asking is way outside the realms of normal support. If you came back and said “sorry, we can’t help you” that would be totally understandable. I’m really just asking in case it’s a problem you might’ve seen before that has a “quick” fix - maybe a configuration thing, or something in the OS settings, for example.
Some screenshots and a diagnostic report are attached. I haven’t added a project file, because the problem is apparent when opening any of the included example scores.
Thanks.
