Un-hide barlines

A colleague started a project and handed it off to me. In the score, two of the parts show no barlines. They do show barlines in the parts layout. Since I didn’t create this document, I don’t know how this happened. How do I un-hide the barlines in the score?

In Engrave mode, if you select a bar line, then you can drag the small handle next to the staff up or down, or select the handle and use alt/opt up/down arrows.

I see no barlines, and no handles. How would I find them?

In the score, you said some instrument had bar lines, no? So select a barline in the instrument that has one.

There’s probably a Bracket and Bar line change signpost that you can delete as an option. You have to show signposts under the View menu to see it.

Otherwise, upload the file.

Hi jesele (can’t remember how to quote-post your handle),

I deleted everything down to a blank file, 5 instruments, 8 bars, no music of any kind, and the site is telling me it’s too big to upload (4.4mb). The bottom 2 parts of the score (bass and drums) do not show the barlines on the score.

I found a “bracket/barline change” signpost, and it appears to be attached to one of the vocal part, because if I delete that part, the bass and drums get their barlines back. But the vocal part DOES show barlines - why? Is there a way to see the details of what the bracket/barline change entails?

I did try dragging barlines from the piano into the bass, as you suggested, but it didn’t work.

So, I found out how to fix the problem, but not how the situation was created in the first place.

If you do Play > Playback Template and apply the Silence template, that will make the file smaller.

Instead of deleting parts, you can just select the signpost and delete it. That will get rid of whatever change was applied.

In Dorido you can apply changes to one player (staff) only, if you input those changes “locally” by using the alt key. One example is local time signatures; you might also be able to input barline changes locally (I would need to check this).
