Hi there! I’ve recently tried to reinstall Cubase Elements 11 after a couple of years and a lot of hardware change on my PC, after figuring out what software I needed to actually install it, I managed to but when I try to run it, it asks for an activation code. I was able to find it from someone linking to myproducts in an older forum post, but when I enter this is says that it failed.
After reading a few forum posts I understand there’s been some changes to licensers and other things since I last had it installed after first getting it, how do I activate my copy?
Unless you have a physical USB elicenser it won’t be possible to install Cubase Elements 11 on a new system. That’s due to the new licensing system and old servers being shut down by now.
The only thing you can do is to update to a current license of Elements 15. It’s on sale right now so it’s just 34,99€ and you will get plenty of bang for your bucks (I am just a regular user, not trying to sell anything here).
If you choose to do so click on Buy Cubase/Elements/Updates/ Version 11 https://www.steinberg.net/cubase/
Please, make sure that your old Element license is properly registered in your account and shows up if you log into MySteinberg.
Yes, that’s the way it is.
In all fairness, Steinberg announced this move years in advance, the transition was flanked by all sorts of offers and in your case we are talking about 35 bucks which will give you a lot in return.
I am not trying to convince you. If that’s the way you see it then I respect that. There are numerous threads about this in case you want to know more about the transition and also how other users reacted.
