If one adds a voice to a flute player, it is also a flute unless one changes the sound in Play mode (IRV).
Only if one adds a new instrument to a player does one anticipate being asked to choose a new instrument, and in that case one can certainly choose another flute.
Derrek, thanks, but I think you are misunderstanding what I’m saying. Let me be more explicit.
I have an existing score with 4 instruments:
Voice, (labeled"Lead Sheet"), Violin, Viola and Violoncello.
When I go into setup mode and click on the “Add Single Player” button, the following happens:
1 - “Empty-handed Player” is added to the players list.
2 - the dialog opens with the list of instrument player types
3 - when I select “flute” and click “Add”, the dialog closes
4 - “Empty-handed Player” becomes “Voice”
If I go through the above sequence but select any other instrument type (I’ve only tried a few) a new player is added with the selected instrument.
If I go through the above sequence and then select the newly created “Voice”, click on its sub-menu and “delete instrument”, it becomes “Empty-handed Player” again.
If I select this player, click “+” to add an instrument, and select “flute” it again becomes “Voice”
If I instead select the “Voice” player and select “change instrument” it won’t let me add flute.
It’s as if “Flute” has been blocked, tho it appears just like the other instruments in the list.
If I close this project and open another everything works as expected.
For a workaround, I can edit the label and name it “Flute” but it will playback with a voice instead of flute.
