longtime Finale transplanting to Dorico Pro 5
I have figured out how to change, and save, the color for the chord symbols (black to red), but when I change the font name from default Bravura to Verdana, and changes from default Regular to Bold, the names in the selection boxes change, but nothing happens to the displayed symbols.
If I am able to do this, then, probably, I would also like to be able to change the font size.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you,
Bob Cates
Would you be able to attach a project so someone can look at your settings?
Just one or two bars will be fine; enough to display the error etc.
At your convenience. Will be offline much of the time until Friday (eastern USA).
Not sure exactly what you are requesting, but am attaching the project that I was working on. It is a project created by importing a MusicXML file from Finale. A completed project in Finale except for lyrics. I am using it to try to be able to replicate the displayed results from the Finale file, after adding the lyrics, which I managed to do. The 1st of many transcription projects that I am working on.
I am also attaching the previously completed PDF, and the MusicXML file (from Finale), just in case either/both might be helpful.
Many thanks for your assistance.

1st attempt rejected by your email security system. Will try again, w/ zipped file instead of (3) individual files. Previous text below.
Thank you.

Bob, I opened the Dorico project attached to the third post in this thread. If I go to Library > Font Styles and edit the Chord Symbols Text Font font style to use the bold weight of Verdana, when I confirm the dialog, all the chord symbols in the project are indeed changed to bold.
Many thanks,
I had looked at the Library / Font Styles but must have missed the Default Chord Symbols. Just now found it, and modified this project.
I still have questions about how to get the diminished part of Cdim to show up as a “o”, and similarly the augmented part of Caug chords to show up as a “+”, but I think that I saw something about that in either the manual or in the forum, so I will research that before starting or continuing a different thread.
Again, many thanks for your help.

Engraving Options>Chord Symbols
(quite the logical place if you think about it)
My “logic” is not yet in tune w/ Dorico’s, and, at my age of almost 80, is slow to learn.
Many thanks for your suggestion. I will look at it this evening.

This is a good example where the logic, or design, is hard to grasp until you have a sense of the scope for various settings. Chord symbol appearance is controlled at the project level, so it’s in Engraving Options.
Notation Options are per-flow; Layout Options are per-layout, etc.
Mark,
Thank you.
After much trial and error, I was mostly able to make it work. The bolded “o” is not as heavy as I would like it, but it is the best of the options presented, and will work.
Related question: How can I modify a (single instance) chord name. For example, in some instances the G7 chord is used as a chord for all players to use. In other instances (my system), the G7 chord symbol is minimized to indicate that it is a “passing” chord, and only needs to be played by those more technically adept. Same chord but not necessarily played by all. I have also used reduced chord symbol size enclosed in parentheses for benefit of the less adept players, i.e. (G7). I have figured out how to “shrink” the size but it applies to all instances of the chord symbol, not just the specific instance.
Thank you,
P.S., I did not find a “Revert (to previously saved version)” shortcut (after I screwed up trying to figure out what I was doing). Used Ctrl-Z to go back a single step, or closed w/o saving and re-opened project.
Thank you.

In Write mode, select a chord symbol and change its properties in the lower panel.
In general the lower panel is where you can change the properties of an individual object to differ from the global settings.
Bingo!
It worked.
Thank you,
