Unable to Sign In to Activation Manager or download anything via Download Assistant

EDIT: SOLVED (Will keep this in case it helps someone in the future).

Issues with TLS/SSL settings were definitely the cause. I installed IIS Crypto and applied PCI 4.0 template - this magically fixed the connection issues, happy days!

Hi,

I am hoping someone from Steinberg (hello Ben ) can help me resolve the following problem please.

Ever since the introduction of new licensing system and download manager I have been unable to use the SAM and SDA.

The Activation Manager never opens a browser when I click ‘Sign In’ so I end up only using the offline mode, which is frustrating, whereas with the Download Assistant I am actually able to log in to my account via browser authentication, but then every single download attempt ends with the “An error occurred while downloading (xxxxxx). Please try again later” message

I am on Windows 10 (upgraded a while back from Windows 7) and have all latest components installed.

I went through all possible posts on the forum and one of the suggestions was to check the connection to the server using curl method.

Interestingly enough curl https://entitlements.steinberg.net/.well-known/jwks.json, worked absolutely fine, however

curl https://pathfinder.mb.steinberg.net/rest/oidc-issuer, and
curl https://iam.steinberg.net:443/am/oauth2/.well-known/openid-configuration

came back with the error:

curl: (35) schannel: next InitializeSecurityContext failed: SEC_E_ILLEGAL_MESSAGE (0x80090326) - This error usually occurs when a fatal SSL/TLS alert is received (e.g. handshake failed). More detail may be available in the Windows System event log.

Windows Event log shows: A fatal error occurred while creating a TLS client credential. The internal error state is 10013.

I tried disabling the firewall, antivirus, browser extensions, etc but no luck at all.

Any suggestions as to what might be the cause and how to fix it please?

Thank you,
Emil
