I’ve got a live recording with a very noisy audience so I’m trying to reduce ambience where ever possible. I’ve set up a gate on the upright bass mic input and set the side chain trigger to look at the level in the Bass DI channel. Trouble is the gate isn’t seeing level from the DI channel and doesn’t trigger the gate open no matter what the threshold level is set to . Seems I’m not implementing this correctly. Any suggestions for getting this to work?

Can you post a screenshot of your sidechain window so we can see if it’s all routes correctly?

Your side chain input is a send on the bass DI channel. Did you activate the send on that track? You’ve set up the side chain input correctly but if you aren’t sending from the bass DI channel, your send input is receiving no signal. Check that first and if you still have issues, share another screenshot of the DI channel as well.
You may need to complete certain on-boarding features if this forum being allowed to upload images. It’s to prevent spamming from new accounts.
