Hi fantasic forum,
I work with some flows with free meter, but it doesn’t do what I thought it should.
in the enclosed flow theres ticks appearing even that the meter is free ?
Thus making bar numbers as well and measures.
How come?
The flow is beyond 4 mgb so I enclose a screenshot instead
You can click on the tick itself, or the sign post (red numbers) to delete.
At the risk of sounding curt (which I’m not intending to be in any way), the reason it is counting measures is, well, because you’re defining measures by adding barlines. Any space between two barlines is a “measure”, even if those barlines are only ticks.
If you’re just wanting breath / lift marks, those are in the holds and pauses panel (although in this context, I don’t think your use of tick barlines inappropriate).
If you want to use the tick barlines as they are, but only have full barlines count as “measures” then you can go through and manually apply bar number changes.
Theres no such thing as sounding curt migrating from long time finale user I’m figthing to grasp the logic > the way to approach appearing problems in dorico.
two comments
When deleting the tick - an normal barline appear, my wish is to have a full open no barlines, no time signatures
And as Derrek suggest when deleting the red signposts (the number) an X appears and still measure are in.
I’m fully aware that it’s something on my side but I simply cant grasp where the flaw is
Though ! I can remove the last tick and then it behaves from that point an onwards like I want
I just realized what’s going on: you’ve reapplied the open time signature (that’s the red X). There needs to be a barline where the time signature “changes”.
You really only need a single open time signature at the beginning. You do not need to repeat it every measure. Select the red x again and the barline should go away.
