Understanding the Score Editor

I do not want Dorico style input in Cubase, it is time consuming and overly complicated. For example, Score Editor displays the incorrect tempo for no reason?

Hi,

There is no Dorico AI product. What do you mean?

Could you attach a screenshot and way to replicate it, please?

Hi Martin

Thank you for your reply.
Sorry, I do not know how to replicate this. The bpm is 80.

Do you possibly know why all the accidentals are spelled incorrectly?
I corrected them, saved the project etc, but they keep reverting to what is incorrect by common practice.
I never had these problems on the old score editor. I think putting dedicated notation software in a DAW is probably a bit ambitious.

Never going to happen.
I believe a lot of users have asked for this (Dorico-style, that is), and it’s still a work-in-progress.

Its a step in the right direction. Have been asking for Dorico integration with Cubendo since Dorcio was released.

Hi @CUBASE_USER_1, would you be able to share the project file demonstrating this problem? Also, did you enter the notes with the pencil tool in the Score Editor, or via any other means?

Hi Stefan

Thank you for your e-mail and valued assistance.

I entered the notes on piano roll using my MIDI keyboard.

It seems that the behaviour is different if:

  1. I put the key sig signpost in score editor before I play in to the piano
roll - note spellings are correct
  2. I play into piano roll and then place the key signature signpost -
enharmonic spellings do not change to reflect the new key sig signpost
(maybe there is some leftover key sig code stuff somewhere on the project
as this is a template that gets re-used)

The “enharmonic shift” button in the manual is missing.

Dorico key commands: Alt + or Alt - do not do anything.

I am not able to send media on your e-mail system, my message was rejected.

I hope that I am not making some obvious mistake on the software…

Kind regards

The key signature seems to work, just need to put more key signature signposts.

Thank you to the guys at Steinberg for being so patient and helpful!

Adding a new key signature should respell notes, unless they have had a spelling specified by dragging in the Score Editor, or if they have been added/modified with the accidental buttons in the note toolbar.
These accidental buttons don’t actually specify the enharmonic spelling by themselves, but are used to determine the actual pitch (with accidental) when adding notes with the mouse in the Score Editor.

There will be further controls to adjust spelling in an upcoming patch release.

Thank you Stefan
