In this old song I’m revisiting, I am showing lanes, but only one shows, while if I click it a jumble of parts show and I can’t remember how I did this or how to manipulate to hear what I want. I wanted to bounce that part but in one attempt there was just a flat line with no sound and I undid.
Hard to see in the image to tell for sure. But I think you created an Audio Part out of multiple Audio Events. An Audio Part is like a container which holds Audio Events. There are a couple of threads here that go into more details on how these work, and of course the manual.
yeah, I agree, hard to tell from the picture. Could it be some adjustment in newer versions of Cubase to the lanes that makes it look a bit strange? and with an older project that could cause some strange things?

What happens if you dissolve the part?
Yes dissolving the part into lanes and then using the comp tool is helpful. I don’t remember the comp tool, but it was 2005 or earlier with this project version. Was it around a long time in earlier versions of cubase.?
I think it was in Cubase when I started using it on Cubase SX.
