Undo still not working after writing automation on large projects

I’m re-posting this. The last time in November of 2023 the thread got sidetracked onto a different issue.

After writing track automation, the undo function stops working. Automation points cannot be selected. The undo history can be seen but you cannot click anywhere in it to revert any actions. Only a restart solves the problem.

Mac OS Ventura on Studio M1 Ultra. Cubase 13.

The way I can reproduce it is open a suitably large session. My session size is around 400+MB due to lots of Kontakt in the template. After that, any session you open afterward and write in automation will result in the undo function ceasing to work and the track won’t read any automation. Even if you create an empty session and record automation on a new blank track, undo stops working.

I could not trigger it with smaller session sizes. Only by opening a large session.

Is this an acknowledged bug yet?

See if these videos can help you somehow:

This is the same bug that is discussed here:

Automation Gets Stuck in Write Position - Cubase - Steinberg Forums

Not everyone mentions the undo getting lost, but it’s always lost for me when the automation bug pops up.

Please help confirm a theory by checking to see if the bug pops up on the second session opened of the day (without restarting Cubase in between)

It absolutely does whenever the session is sufficiently large. Empty or very small projects don’t seem to trigger it.

No it’s the main Undo history that disappears without fail. It’s not me confusing the different histories but thank you for the suggestion.
