I recently upgraded from Cubase AI 5 to Cubase Elements 13 and right off the bat I noticed a major issue where I’m not getting any audio output. After selecting “Magix Low Latency 2016” as my ASIO driver after seeing that the generic driver wouldn’t find any outputs, the only available options for audio outputs I can see are emulated audio outputs (such as Steam Streaming Audio and Elgato streaming audio) that don’t actually output audio. When I try to enable my only actual audio output (Realtek HD Audio output), it shows up under the Control Panel as unavailable; likely because this output is currently in use by Windows. I was able to use some old USB headphones and these worked as an output for Cubase while my speakers ran on Windows, but I’d rather not have to use two outputs when using Cubase. Is there any way to get Cubase to unify audio output with Windows?
Editing my answer after taking a look at my settings:
Do you have “Realtek ASIO” as an option in Cubase in Studio Setup, like this?
I never realized there was a Realtek ASIO driver! There never used to be so this must be new within the last several years and I never noticed it, so my apologies for saying that there wasn’t one.
I did give the ASIO4All a shot and it had the same issue as Magix. I don’t have Realtek ASIO. I’ll have to see if I can install that since that sounds like a more native solution.
Then after you add it like in my first screenshot, you click on Realtek ASIO from the left side and then you would confirm that you have these devices checked and installed:
After updating my Realtek drivers, it still did not install Realtek ASIO as an option, but now unifying output in ASIO4All appears to be working fine. Thank you for the help!
Good to hear it’s working now.
In case you run into such problems again in the future, here is a link to a little guide:
