Uninstalling older Cubases and cleaning up Download Assistant

Hi, I am wondering about uninstalling older versions C14, C13, Nuendo older version (that I don’t plan to upgrade any time soon) from the Mac OS. I keep accidentally opening projects in C14, but I am not sure what is required to uninstall a C14 or similar install, where C15 should not be affected. Same probably applies to Absolute 5 vs 6, I guess.

I am also wondering if its possible to get the Steinberg Download Assistant to also forget about these older products. Each time I go to the red highlighted updates section… to discover its only patches to older Cubase versions. I don’t know how to tell it I’m not interested in C13/14 anymore.

Does anyone have successful experiences in either or both of these clean-up activities? Many thanks!

You can uninstall older versions normally and safe without affecting the new release which is installed apart, as any of them. Also, if you don’t wanna be bothered by updates regarding older versions, I think you need to bin the installers folders (e.g.) in
C:\Users\xxxxx\Downloads\Steinberg\WIN64\Cubase 14.0.41 - Application (required)

just move to the bin “Cubase 14.0.41 - Application (required)” entire folder and all of them regarding the version which you will find in “C:\Users\xxxxx\Downloads\Steinberg\WIN64”
Then the download assistant will show them as never installed.
Uninstall the version you don’t need before getting rid of these folders.

All of this assuming you’re on Windows.

He’s using MacOS, but other than the paths, it should be much the same procedure.

The SDA shows stuff in your account, so I don’t think you can filter anything out.

Well that worked with me. It won’t give any update for what is not installed but it will show to install the new release.

E.g Cubase Pro 14.0.x

In the end, that’s all that matters.
:+1:

Thanks both, I’ve removed old Cubase/Nuendo and my Download Assistant is clean!
Steps I performed:

  • Deletion of Apps from Applications folder in Mac.
  • Removed old versions found in the hidden “Library” folder eg Library/Applications/Steinberg.

All good. No need to delete old Installers on Mac, it seems, they are cleaned up part install.
This KB article has a good list of all Cubase file locations on Mac: https://helpcenter.steinberg.de/hc/en-us/articles/206293124-macOS-How-to-uninstall-an-application-completely
