I never understood (and need not) an unintended mouse mode how you can see at the picture. I didn’t understand under what conditions it is activated either. What is the benefit of that and how can I switch off it? Thanks a lot!

You can disable this function in Preferences:
When it’s enabled, you trigger it by selecting a note, holding the left button, and moving up/down or right/left.
Some people like it for modifications. Combined with Insert Mode, it allows you to swap music horizontally:
Combined with Ctrl/Cmd, it moves notes vertically by octaves ; with Shift, by chromatic intervals. And without modifier, by diatonic intervals.
