Unsoloing group also unmutes muted channels routed to it

Hello,

I’m not sure if it always happens, but in my project if I solo a group, then unsolo it, the muted tracks that were routed to that group become unmuted. But I muted them on purpose in the first place and now that they’re unmuted it’s not possible to undo it, and I have to close and reopen the project. Is there a way to make sure Cubase doesn’t unmute channels that I would like to keep muted. Or the only safe way is to disable those tracks?

Thanks in advance,

From the manual > Preferences > under the VST section > Look for:

Group Channels: Mute Sources as well
“Mutes channels that are directly routed to a group channel when you mute the group
channel. Channels that were muted prior to the group channel being muted will not
remember their mute status and will be unmuted when the group channel is unmuted”.

Try to change the selection there. This may work (I can’t test it now as I am not at my DAW right now).
Good luck
