Unusable for Production Work - Error log attached

I was hoping to use Spectralayers to denoise samples. While the noise reduction works very well, the software itself is unreliable. Used standalone, I can load an audio file, remove the noise and save the file. But if I press play to hear it, the whole application crashes immediately. Inside Nuendo, it worked for a day or two, and presently, when launched against an audio event, it opens in the lower window, as it should. But the whole window is white. Mousing around in it, I can find the menu buttons, which do work, but with a solid white display, it is of little use. I’ve tried every manner of restart and re-instantiation without any noticeable effect, including rebooting the PC. Upgrading to .10 made no difference.

It may be ARA, it may be the app itself, but it can’t be relied on at this time for project work.

I also note that there is no batch processing mode. This makes it next to useless for sample processing. I have tried leaving multiple samples on the track and loading them all at once into Spectralayers. It churns away, but never adjusts the audio in each event. Without a way to do batch processing, it seems like more of a sound design playground than a production tool.

I don’t know what direction the product is pointed, but it cannot replace RX7 for my work in its present form. I’m sure I’ll get use out of it eventually, but right now, it has to go on the shelf until it is more mature/stable.

I have tried the new .10 release and it is no different than the .0 release for the issues I’m seeing.

Looks like a conflict with OpenGL. There are no OpenGL modules says the log.
Did you try DirectX setting in SLP6?
And what is your grafic deviece? Do you use the newes drivers?

I have tried the -directx option. It does not change the behavior.

I have a Radeon RX560, running 18.10.2. since there are new drivers about every week, I couldn’t possibly say whether I have the right one. What I do have has had predictably low DPC latency, and that is not always easy to get, but really - this is a static 2d display of spectral data - the card should be idling.

The AMD driver software says I have OpenGL® Version 24.20.11000.13541

Seems to be an OpenGL issue indeed. It’s weird that it cannot load libEGL though.

Anyway you can try the following steps:

Update your graphic drivers, restart your computer. If it still doesn’t work,
Switch to OpenGL mode (Edit > Preferences > Display > Rendering Api > OpenGL), restart SL/Nuendo.

Let me know.

Regarding the audio crash in the standalone, please send me corresponding log files as well. Did you change from WASAPI to ASIO ? WASAPI usually tends to be more stable.

My audio interface (Focusrite PCIe Dante card has ASIO drivers, not WSAPI. The ASIO driver works perfectly with Nuendo taking over 40ch of IO in and out…

I have updated my graphics driver, and the OpenGL error is gone. Nothing changes in the stability or usability of the program, unfortunately.

In the standalone, I can open a single wav file of 20 sec in length. Press play, and it plays. Press stop, it stops. Press play again and it freezes and crashes, forcing me to use Task Manager to kill it. 100% repeatable - every time.

In Nuendo, I still have the white screen. It does not matter if I set it to DirectX or OpenGL.
