As I’m working on my current project, every now and then some of the players suddenly get their chord symbol visibility set to “Show for All Instruments,” even though they had previously been set to either “Hide for All Instruments” or “Show for Rhythm Section Instruments.” Is there a reason this might be the case, or a way to prevent this from happening? I am on Dorico version 6.2.30.
Not sure if this is relevant, but if you enter a chord symbol whilst selecting an item on an instrument that hides chord symbols, that setting will be overridden and the chord symbols will show.
The same happens if you make a selection and generate chord symbols from selection. All instruments in the selection will now show chord symbols.
I can’t recall the reasoning behind this, but it is annoying.
I think it’s because when you are entering a chord symbol directly into that instrument, Dorico assumes you want it to show. Otherwise you can have the situation where the user enters a chord symbol but it doesn’t show up anywhere.
Basically just input chords into staves where they are set to show, and don’t input them into staves where they aren’t.
This functionality really needs to be revised as it makes generating chord symbols an incredibly painful and slow process for the user.
