While working on an intermediate-level big band jazz chart, last Wednesday I suddenly had no drum set on Playback. I found out that for whatever reason, Life Is Simple, the Groove Agent patch I had been using, had vanished. When I loaded it back in, suddenly anytime the playback came to a pedal hi hat part, it triggered one of the pre-set patterns from Life Is Simple. The one playing sounded like a rock drum fill. I thought my playback had crashed or Play mode wasn’t functioning right, so I called Dorico customer support. The guy I talked to was as helpful as he could be, but needed me to send him the file so he could see and dive into it himself. I did, but also decided on Friday to open a new project window while the original was open and copy-pasted the original file with the weird percussion into the new window (with the Life Is Simple patch loaded). This worked well, and the new project had a drum set part that was what I wrote with the sounds I wanted. I worked on it a bit this weekend from home with no problems, then when I opened it when I got to work this morning the drum set was again muted. I went into Play mode, clicked on Edit Instrument, and found there was once again no drum set file loaded. Where the kit name goes (under Groove Agent SE5 in the upper left) it just said “Kit 1”. I’ve no idea why or how this happened; I saved the file as normal when I finished working on it from home yesterday evening. This morning, when I clicked any of the 16 sound pads there was once again silence. So, I clicked on the Show/hide button, loaded the “Life Is Simple” file that was working from home over the weekend, and went back to Write mode so I could listen to it. Lo and behold, when it gets to a pedal hi hat part, it plays the same rock fill pattern that I encountered about last week!
I know this is a long post, but WTH am missing or doing wrong???
