Unwanted rests in drum part + rehearsal mark formatting

Hello,

I have two questions:

  1. Is there a way to not have these whole note rests appear in the drum part? I copied this section from earlier in the piece and the rests don’t appear there. While I have created a key command to remove rests, it’s still time consuming to do it that way and I’m sure there’s a faster way that I just haven’t figured out.
  2. Is there a way to move the rehearsal marks closer to the staff without repositioning them one by one in engrave mode? I was trying to figure this out in the rehearsal mark menu under engraving options, but I haven’t figured it out yet.

Thanks,

Hunter

  1. If you select the measures in question, then filter for the voice for the rests, then filter for rests, you can hide them all in one go. Another option would be to find the last note in that voice which precedes these bars, and turn on the Ends Voice property.
  2. It’s a little hard to tell without seeing your project file, but it looks like the rehearsal mark is avoiding the text underneath. There are a few things you can try here: turn off the Avoid Collisions property on the text or base the text on a paragraph style that has Avoid Collisions turned off (and then clean up positioning in Engrave mode); use F to flip the text to underneath the staff (and then reposition); set the rhythmic grid to something small and use Alt/Opt+right arrow to move the text to the next rhythmic grid position, so that it no longer conflicts with the rehearsal mark. In general, I think this last option will result in the least amount of work – especially if that text is system text, since it will take care of all of the layouts at once.

Thanks, Aaron! These solutions worked great.
