Unwanted rogue bars

Hi there, I’m quite new to Dorico and am having trouble trying to delete 2 unwanted pages after the end of a piece both of which have a bar with 1 crotchet rest in it. I have no idea how they got there! I have been unable to delete the bar or the pages or find any thread that references this. Can anyone help please? thank you

They are probably Empty Flows; check the bottom panel in Setup mode, and delete them there by clicking the trash can.

Jesper

Here Flow2 is empty.

Hi Jesper, thanks for getting back to me so quickly. That exactly what it looks like. I understand your instructions but am nervous about the flows, I’ve ended up with 3 in this piece, I don’t know how, when I click on flow 1 it moves to the beginning of my piece, when I click on flow 2 it moves to these spare bars, if I click on flow 3 it stays on these 2 spare bars, if I click the trash can for flow 2 or 3 will my piece survive?!!

Yes, it will. Just don’t click the trash can with Flow1 selected.
You can always save a backup with File->Save as… first to be sure.

Jesper

Thank you so much Jesper, all sorted!

Best Wishes,

Fiona

Great to hear.

Anyone who is nervous about following any unfamiliar advice from this forum should realize they can always try out suggestions on a copy of their original file before deleting the original (or preserving it as a backup) if the suggestion works.

Hi Derrek,

Thanks for your message.

Could you advise on the best way to make a copy please?

Thank you,

Fiona

Just duplicate the file in Windows Explorer or Mac Finder, whichever you use.

Great thank you

Ha ha!!! Absolutely!! It was driving me mad!

Thank you everyone for your help and good humour :slightly_smiling_face:

I use Save As… and give the new file a slightly different name. For example…

myfile260513.dorico becomes myfile260513a.dorico

Ok great, thank you
