Update 5.1.1 doesn't work on W7/64

I had the same problem and it also worked in XP-mode. I think the problem is when you try to update N5 32bit on win7 x64.

No it has worked fine for me here so the problem should be elsewhere…

Cheers,
Bernard

Just throwing an idea out here but maybe you all should check if there’s a common version of Windows Installer that’s working/not working just to elliminate it as the culprit.

You’ll probably find that most installers these days have over doubled in size as developers pack both 32bit and 64bit applications into a single install package.

…now I just have to laugh… same APPCRASH for the new HALion Sonic 1.5 update…
Either the autorun.exe installer is flaky, or incompatible with one or more of the latest Windows 7 updates…
or the latest Windows Installer.

The 1+GB content update for v1.5 doesn’t work at all…

Just for the record:

I did a COMPLETE REINSTALL of the whole system. Fresh Win7/64 install + Nuendo. No additional software:

Guess what? The updater doesn’t work. It crashes like before. All the reinstall work in vain.

I did the workaround via decomress and manual install and it worked.

There must be something wrong with the installer. The system had NO SOFTWARE but Nuendo 5.0 on it and the latest Windows patches.

Steinberg fix that bug!!! This is rediculous that I can’t install my paid software because of lousy installers!

Pro.

Have you tried to install it in XP-Mode? (right mouse-button, then click in the popup menu “resolve compatibility problems”; I think it’s so called. I have only win7 in german).
But you are right that the installer is lousy!
