I’m simply curious: I’ve noticed that Cubase had only a one-year gap between its last two major updates, whereas the previous cycle took significantly longer—likely due to the transition to the new Apple chips. Has the update cycle for Dorico also changed?
I recall reading somewhere that a 6.X update for Dorico might be imminent, though that was a few weeks ago. Do you happen to have any recent information on this?
Thanks for the table. Of course I know about the past releases. But the Cubase versions had a much shorter time between 12 and 13 than between 14 and 15. but as I said. Just out of curiosity. 6.1 works great for me.
I had never realized that the updates for Dorico are so irregular. And I also hadn’t realized that Dorico is already celebrating its tenth anniversary this year!
There were 7 releases in 2024, excluding “hot fixes”, providing a lot of new features albeit officially they were all point-point releases under the 5.1 umbrella.
Even with translator apps (or perhaps because of them), I’m not entirely confident that my original post was translated well. I certainly didn’t want to give the impression that I feel the development is moving too slowly. On the contrary, I’m more than happy with Dorico Pro and find the team’s presence and the community truly unparalleled. Right now, I’ve just finished a project, and now I have time to be a bit curious about what surprises might be coming next. As you said, even point releases often deliver more than one would expect.
I don’t think you need to worry that you gave the wrong impression. I expect just about all of us can’t wait for the latest and greatest update to Dorico; and no doubt the Development Team knows and appreciates that sentiment and will release the next version as soon as all is ready.
Oh don’t worry, that’s not how I read your post at all – I was simply perusing Ben’s list and couldn’t get my head around the absence of release dates in 2024! Because I remember being very busy that year
