A silly question (due to the snow in France) :
I’ve noticed that some people have had problems with the 5.1.6 update, and this seems to be happening again with 5.1.7 (total disappearance of the application on the computer ; segment deleted?).
So I wanted to know what method you use to install these updates :
install the new version via Steinberg Download Assistant, which will overwrite the old one ?
discard the old version first and then install the new one (with SDA)?
download the current version (and therefore the update) from the Steinberg site and not via SDA ?
Thanks for your answers.
I use the Steinberg Download Assistant. Opening it (and waiting for it do its thing for a minute or two), it then offers an Update field at the top of the left panel (right above Applications). I select whatever App appears when I select that field, press the update button, wait for another minute or two while the app is downloaded and installed, and that is all there is to it for me
Well. I have to day downloaded 5.1.7 via SDA in order to own a diskimage (handy for reinstalling a previous version in case the update creates problems).
Have I to trash first my 5.1.51 before to install 5.1.7 or is it not necessary ?
You could even keep the old version and install the new version in parallel.
How to do?
Easy like this: Go to the Applications folder an rename the current Dorico5.app to e.g. Dorico5.1.6.app and then run the new installer of version 5.1.7 and that will create a new Dorico5.app but with 5.1.7 inside. That’s it.
And the sound content and shared components stay the same, as well as the preferences.
