Updating 11 for e-licenser

Like everyone else, I received the e-mail re: updating to the new licensing system. I find the information in the e-mail very confusing so took a look at a few on-line videos but still have some questions.

When I log into my Steinberg account, it indicates my one application, Cubase 11 Artist, as a USB e-license. What I don’t see is a voucher to transition to the new licensing system.

I’m happy with 11 Artist and do not wish to upgrade. Is that the issue: that I can only move to the new licensing system if I upgrade? Or is it possible to move 11 to the new licensing system but I need to specifically request a voucher?

Any insights will be appreciated. Thanks.

Yes

No

You will not see a voucher, because Cubase 11 is not using the new licensing system and will not get it.

That’s correct. You need to update, because the new licensing system was builtin the first time to Cubase 12, so that is what you need at least. The update as of today will get you Cubase 13, but 12 will also run.

However, even if you update you can continue to use Cubase 11 as long as your USB stick is working and not lost. You just need to activate the new license, before the server is shutdown, and then simply go on with Cubase 11.

If you decide later to use the new version you can simply install it and start it.

When, and I do say when, since nothing lasts forever, when the dongle no longer works, neither will Cubase 11. Ditto if you drop it and tread on it in your size 13 work boots, or if you lose it.

Thanks, all, for the quick responses. I’ll probably sit with my 11 and hope my USB holds together. :slightly_smiling_face:
