Is updating Cubase with maintenance updates pretty straight forward? I’m on Cubase 15.0.21 on Mac Tahoe and it looks like there is Cubase 15.0.30.
Yes. Back up your settings folder (I don’t know where that is on a Mac), download the update from the website, or use the Steinberg Download Assistant.
Should only take a few seconds, once downloaded.

Just had the same thought myself.
I learned my lesson back in the Dark Ages. I was editing away in Cubase, as you do. It was raining outside, but I was warm and cosy inside. Then there was a bright flash and an instant later an almighty clap of thunder. The lights flickered and my computer - I can’t remember, it may have been an Atari, might have been a PC - my computer rebooted.
Since then, I save every 2 milliseconds and back up often.
Anyways, power cuts happen, heaven forbid one should happen whilst Cubase is in the process of updating files.
For Mac users Time Machine backups can make manual backups less necessary.
For PC users, it’s a little more effort to keep backups, but not any less important.
p.s. I’m in both camps, so no flame war needed

On this note, google doesn’t seem to be showing me where the settings folder is for Cubase on Mac Tahoe. Does anyone happen to know?

So then, the Cubase 15 folder in Preferences holds all of the settings then? I could just copy and paste that elsewhere as backup? Is that the idea?
Yes.
I was being a bit glib above about not backing up my preferences. But the main reason I don’t need to do that is because I (actually a scheduled Windows task) run a system backup every night.
If you aren’t doing regular system backups, take this as a nudge to start.
Years ago I would purposely wipe my machine and reinstall everything once a year…it was a great way to get rid of all the clutter that you don’t need or want
Still do. Every 18 months, or so. If I haven’t used a program or a plugin in that time, it doesn’t get installed. About 8 hours to install, then adjust settings as I use the software.
