Updating Nuendo 5.0 to 5.5.2

I’m still using Nuendo 5.0
I’m a little paranoid about updating, but I guess it’s time. Three questions:

Is there a way to update directly from 5.0 to 5.5.2, or do I need to update to 5.5.0 first and then install the 5.5.2 update?

Can I expect to have problems updating NEK (as a lot of people seemed to have when 5.5 first came out - one of the reasons for my paranoia), or have those issues been resolved?

I seem to recall when I upgraded from N2 to N5 someone recommended backing up my prefs, but I can’t remember how. Can someone tell me?

Thanks.

5.5 is a independant (clean) install which will live next to your old 5.0 install.

Fredo

Thanks, I went ahead and did it, took me hours to get it working.
To do so, I had to copy the contents of the folder
C:\Users[username]\AppData\Roaming\Steinberg\Nuendo 5
over to
C:\Users[username]\AppData\Roaming\Steinberg\Nuendo 5.5

AND copy all my plugins from
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steinberg\Nuendo 5\VSTPlugins
to
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steinberg\Nuendo 5.5\VSTPlugins

Sure would’ve been nice if these instructions were included in a “readme” file or something
(If it’s in the knowledgebase, I can’t find it)

That is not normal.
Your settings should have been ported over automatically.

Fredo

What Fredo said is correct and your plug-ins should reside in a shared folder outside Nuendo (which your settings refer to) so it should have been a case of simply installing and being up and running within a few minutes.

hmmm, I guess something went wrong. Oh well, it’s working now.
