happy 2025 everyone!
amazing holidays come and went and many discount sales came and went but still no mention of any Cubase 14 upgrade discount…
.
im a cubase owner since version 5 when the dongle thing was introduced.
I upgraded to version 11 at some point, the last one to have the dongle thing. Now I own a MacBook Pro as my main computer I have absolutely no way to use it anymore from a practicality standpoint.
Still, even though the dongle is about to be officially aborted, there is no update that I heard of that lets me use my software that I paid for without it.
One would imagine they would just release a little emulation driver or something to finally rid us of this thing. (It can’t be that hard the pirates have been doing it since forever. )
just introduce an Old user upgrade discount program that allows loyal old users of the handicapped dongle bearing versions to upgrade to a new version without having to pay what is essentially the same full price that a crossgrade License costs.
(also the cost a brandnew Ableton or lifetime FL Studio license.)
.
given the fact that it was Steinberg in the first place who forced this dongle handicap on it users for more than 10 years even though it hindered performance and limited the programs practical usability.
it is my firm belief that an upgrade license shouldn’t cost more than €100.
Especially given that everything else keeps getting discounts.
.
I was told by the support representative that such a discount existed for a limitedtime for some anniversary promotion and that I should’ve gotten an email with the news - but of course there was no email, and probably also no promotion. (*gaslighting)
.
That’s it.
What else is there to say.
It will either happen or it won’t, let’s hope it does.
Because as it is right now I think the other options on the market just make more sense.
