Upgrade from 9 Pro to 12 Pro, will I need the dongle afterwards?

I am looking to upgrade from 9 Pro to 12 Pro, would like to be able to ditch the dongle after upgrading, how does it work exactly?

No dongle anymore …
Cubase 12 works with ‘Steinberg Licensing’.
This means that the dongle is replaced by the ‘Steinberg Activation Manager’.
So expect to see something like this in the eLicenser and the new Steinberg Activation Manger’ where you will ‘activate’ Cubase for the computer in question:

@andreasnord Just keep in mind that although Cubase 12 will not require the dongle, you might have other products from Steinberg that does.
