I recently upgraded from Cubase 7.5 to Cubase 8 Pro but I’ve run into some issues.
First, the installation was not successful, despite several attempts.
I keep getting errors - please see attachments.
Has anyone else had this?
How do I get it resolved?
Second, the main reason I paid for the upgrade was for the promise of performance. However, having opened a few projects in 8, there is no improvement on load, latency or required buffer size. If anything, the performance meters are higher. I’m not happy about this at all.
Has anyone else experienced the same?
And further on that, what steps can I take to improve performance for Cubase 8? Either in Cubase settings (are there Cubase files that have settings etc that relate to this at all? eg XML files etc?? ), or in Windows.
For info, I’m on Windows 7 Pro 64-bit, Intel i7 @ 3.6, 16GB RAM, plenty of hard disk space, Focusrite Firewire Pro 14, AMD HD Radeon 7450
Any help appreciated.
It looks like a broken download.
Try another download while your anti virus software is shut off.
Probably you would like to use a download manager like JDownloader.
I had some probs upgrading so I deleted what I had downloaded and started again …that got rid of most of the problems…
still got a couple though…
I’m downloading again.
I have tried twice so far but still get the errors.
In my products, the download says Cubase 8 Pro (Windows) and is 9.1GB
However, via the link that came with the Steinberg email , the download is only 3.8GB
Why the huge discrepancy? Any ideas / info on this?
I’m getting quite frustrated with it all.
I don’t normally have an issue with downloads.
The email link is an update from 7.5 to 8 without a lot of contents already installed by 7.5.
The 9.1GB ist the complete installer if you need or want to install from scratch.
Did you got some errors when you unzipped the zip-archives?
If so you have to retry the download in any case.
I’ve re-downloaded but I still get the same errors.
No, I did not get any errors on unzipping.
Any ideas what to do next??
I downloaded the complete installer…and installed from scratch.
Now I remember. Error 1603 is known to me.
Obviously Windows messed up your installation information.
That means some work and patience.
Look here http://www.steinberg.net/forums/viewtopic.php?f=196&t=58117#p351372
Or try a total uninstall of CB8 AND CB7.
I think I’ve resolved it.
The problem happened during the installation process on installing Groove Agent SE
I removed just this alone via the Windows control panel. When I ran the installation again, it worked.
So, I think it’s all good now.
Good news. That makes sense, because you got the error belonging to GA,
I keep my fingers crossed for this.
