In WaveLab 8.5.0 64 bit and 32 bit, Help | Support | Check For Updates takes me to http://www.steinberg.net/en/support/downloads/wavelab_8.html, when it should take me to http://www.steinberg.net/index.php?id=downloads_wl85&L=1. I’d also like WaveLab to inform me about new versions please.
Also I’m not able to upgrade the 32 bit version from 8.0 to 8.5! I have both 32 and 64 installed for legacy 32 bit plugs. I payed for the .5 upgrade too, so what’s up with this?

Yes, I should of course have mentioned that. There’s no hangs or crashes. It just keeps being 8.0.
The link works. There’s two issues.
1 - The upgrade link in 8.5 points to the old 8.0 page.
2 - I’m not able to upgrade the 32 bit version of 8.0

Don’t you see this folder after the installation?

Good question. Yes, I do. Turns out it was installed in addition to 8.0, not on top of. I’ll now uninstall the old 8.0. Thanks you very much. This solved my issue.
