Upgrade to ElCapitan while mixing album on Mavericks?

Just upgraded to iOS 10 on my iPhone. I upload mixes each day for review on my iPhone. Just found out after upgrading to iOS 10 that I need ElCapitan to use iTunes with my phone. Is it safe to switch to ElCapitan when in the
throes of a project?

I’ve been using elcapitan for 9 months with no issues / crashes with 8.5.20 and OS X 10.11.5. The latest is OS X 10.11.6. But I think OS X 10.11.5 performed a bit better. With one large project. But overall great performance with 8.5. Keep in mind everything else in your system before upgrading.

Upgrading mid-project is always a bad idea. Unless you have no deadline.
