Just recently got a new laptop, Dell latitude 5440, 13th gen i7, 32gb ram. Every stat and benchmark is showing this system is 2 maybe 3 times higher performance than my last PC, but I can barely get 5 tracks running at the same time without peaking and sound cracking. Focusrite 2i2 interface with all updated drivers. Running ASIO guard medium or high, buffer high. Feel like I’m missing something here. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Plug-ins generally run: amp sims, vst instruments and general mixing plugins
Here is the results from the LatencyMon test, was running this while running a single track with an amp sim and was just glitching nonstop, not sure if that was just due to running LatencyMon at the same time.
Do a clean boot of your laptop and let it sit for 5 minutes or so to settle down, then run Latecymon and nothing else. Let it run for 10 to 15 minutes and post the results back here.
So I thought I’d just start fresh and reset my comp from scratch and first thing i did was run LatencyMon and these are the results below, now I’ve changed no windows or BIOS settings and this doesnt seem to be a great start really.
This could be a Core Parking issue, at least you can try to download and disable Windows Core Parking. Turn off core parking in this utility and rerun LatencyMon.
