The sale is on and it’s time to upgrade. My questions are just to avoid any surprises when downloading and installing the newer Version 15. Like, do I have to install Version 14 first; or does it still function with Windows 10? I have lots of disk space and Ram. Basically, are there any new steps or instructions that I should be aware of since version 13?.
My first surprise was finding out that, as of yesterday, tech support has devolved into a maze of avoidance strategies. They should provide a manual for this one. I once posted how great their tech support was…I’m definitely taking that back. Sorry, but I just spent way too much time there. How do they think their FAQs can answer “Basically, are there any new steps or instructions that I should be aware of since version 13.” Every software company should stop using that FAQ; it’s only supposed to be help…not the solution.
There goes one of their proudest features.
So if anyone has recently upgraded, any cautions would be greatly appreciated.
In this general form this is incorrect.
Any new project created with version 13.0.50 or higher cannot be opened in versions lower than 13.0.50.
However, I use a template that was first created with C12 but has been modified and saved several times since in versions C14 and C15. I can still load any project created with this template in all older versions of Cubase.
Thanks for everything guys. I am now running on V15. I followed Reco29’s steps. I first made sure I was running Win 10 22H2 as per djtricky’s suggestion. From Johnny_Moneto’s mention, I first updated everything on V13 before I installed V15; there was a lot of stuff I wasn’t keeping up with. I’ll likely have a few questions in the future, so I know where to go. Thanks for all your help.
Yes, I agree that FAQs are almost ineffective no matter who makes them…though some are worse than others. Some of them try to use it as their answer to tech support by making it very difficult to find their tech support email. Also, I make a point of mentioning this to any software company who tries to bury their email contact. So have your FAQs but make your email contact easy to locate. I couldn’t find it for Steinberg.
