Hi,
I have an USB-A UR44 - now I got a new Mac with USB-C ports. Can I simply buy a new cable and connect the UR44 via USB-C? Or would it have an advantage to buy a UR44c instead?
Thanks!

Hi,
USB-C is backward compatible to the older USB standards. Thus, it should be sufficient to buy a new cable or an adapter.
Thought so to, but I wondered - why then publish those interfaces as a new model instead of just adding a cable?
It probably also comes with some technical improvements and better specs, like faster transfer rates and lower latency. I haven’t checked that though.
If your old interface still works well, there’s probably no need to spend money on a new one.
Hi @mavo0013.
Just something to note.
Seen a thread somewhere here on the Forums regarding this very scenario, where someone was having issues with their Audio Interface. It turned out to be an incompatible cable.
Maybe have a quick look at this: https://www.howtogeek.com/353410/3-problems-with-usb-c-you-need-to-know/#:~:text=The%20problem%20is%20specific%20to%20cables%20with%20the,devices%20(and%20cables)%20support%20faster%20charging%20than%20USB-A.
Might be of use.
I replaced the old USB2 with a USB-C cable 2y ago to connect it to my Mac Studio. Zero issues.
