UR44 distorting inputs

Hi,
I have distortion sound when connecting (guitar or even just a cable) to any one of the 6 inputs on the UR44. until now all was ok. it happen when using a daw or any standalone effect. playback from daw or other players sounds good.
what can be the problem?

Macbook pro late 2013, all software and driver are up to date.

This might seem like a silly question, but you’ve tried different cables and sources right?
