UR44C, Cubase and dual studio monitor setup (in control Room)*edited

Hi all,

I’d like to know why my main outs don’t appear in CUBASE CR properly. It only shows the other 3 outputs not the Main out which correlates to the gain knob on my UR44c.

For example on the UR44C this is the physical layout on the unit itself:

Left and Right (Main Output)

1Left and 1Right (Second Output)

2Left and 2Right (Third Output)

XxFX and XxFX (Fourth Output)

NO Headphone outs either!!! (Should be 2)

In Cubase Control Room you only see the latter 3, which means to use the control room I have to unplug the cables from the main out and move them to the 1left and 1right then losing access to the gain knob on the unit itself.

Also, when switching the cables to the other outputs I gained a serious hiss which made me have to significantly lower the rear volume on both sets of monitors.

The included Yamaha dspfx software/mixer is truly useless and not really fluent with the Cubase architecture besides some easy access features within Cubase. There are almost no options for routing and adjustments.

Cubase 12 Pro (Updated)

Windows 11 Pro

UR44C with updated tools/drivers etc.

I emailed Steinberg and got a low effort reply refering to “Que base" saying update my driver’s/software then they said they don’t have a UR44c to look at to understand my issue. Oooph!

I don’t see why my main monitors need to be unplugged and put into the secondary outputs for the control room to work as well made for crazy hiss and the need to lower the monitor rear volume.

Run your monitor out of the control room. Engage the control room from audio connections {F4} where you can add up to four sets of monitors.

I assume you assigned your main outs to Audio Connections/Output, right?
Control Room is supposed to be your sole monitoring central. First, leave Audio Connections/Outputs unassigned and then follow @Wickham_Sky 's suggestion and route all Outputs through Audio Connections/Control Room.
Control Room comes with many useful features - no need for anything else.

I should have clarified that all these issues are because I am using the control room. Also the UR44C. I also cannot add headphones in the control room as they do not show up. I am thinking this is a limitation of the UR44c. Its dreadful especially with how it doesnt mesh well with Cubase.

If you understand what I am saying above, the 2 suggestions miss the mark. I am in the control room. I have to unplug my main outs and put them in the secondary outs in order for the control room to work. My main outs disappear. So monitors A are technically my secondary outs and my third outs are B. I have no other options. And I cant assign my 2 sets of headphones either. I think tis is UR44C being trash imo.

They are. All of the info in my OP is via control room

Hi,
I am pretty sure that the problem is on the setup side. Both Control Room and your audiointerface are perfectly fine to handle these tasks with ease. All the info you need is in the posts above.

Your main mistake: you haven’t left the outputs under F4 Audio Connections / Outputs as not assigned. There’s another way around this problem but I woudn’t suggest to take this route (you’d have to know exactly why you’d set it up like this).

Please post three screenshots:

  1. F4 Outputs
  2. F4 Control Room
  3. Right Zone Control Room

This way we can visually point out what you need to do.
Again, Control Room is the easiest way to set this up by far.

The main out in CR is called monitor1.

and the otput in output tab is disabled when the CR ie enabled. Doesn’t it look like this at yuour place? This is UR44 interface with Yamaha drivers.
