Use cases for regions in 2026?

I have been aware of the regions feature in Cubase for many years, but have yet to figure out what they could be useful for (at least for my personal workflows). Surely I’m missing something, so I wanted to revive this thread from the Cubase 9 era with the same question:

In 2026, with Cubase 15 in field, what are some use cases that regions are uniquely well-suited for? Perhaps they allow you to do things you can’t do otherwise, or at least make things easier you could accomplish otherwise, albeit more cumbersomely?

Hi,

You can quickly marker the regions, where you want to apply some specific Process (Direct Offline Processing). Then the area is selectable easily and you can remove/change the processes.

They are useful in Library projects as all the regions become listed. You can also create regions in Library projects.

useful in large sound design projects

think of them as cycle markers on large pieces of audio

there is a playback button for regions as well that doesn’t move project playback.

libraries are useful because you can have them open at the same time as projects.
