I made some changes in the score, but that did not apply to the extracted parts. What have I to do to apply user defined scaling to all parts and not only to the score without doing it in each part from the very beginning?
What you need to make sure of, before modifying anything, is how the Global/Local setting of the properties is set. If itâs local, the changes youâre doing in the full score will not affect any other layout. If itâs set on Global, the settings will affect all layouts.
You can still use the Propagate properties feature (use the jump bar to find it) in order to correct your mistake, after you select the modified stuffđ
It had been set to global. I just tried again. The same result. Only in Score, not in Parts.
Can you post a project that exhibits that behavior? I âm fairly certain that itâs user error at a certain point, but I donât know which (point). So this would help clear the air for you ![]()
since I actually got no time (I made the changes manually in the Part) â no. But curious: in exactly one bar (from about 10) it worked as it should: the scaling done in the score affected either the part. By the way: the same problem with showing/hiding accidentals. Set to global, but not be seen in the partsâŚBut many thanks! Maybe I come back to youâŚ
Note that the effect is not retroactive. You need to set Global before you make the changes, to make them global. There is a little UI difference for global properties, they appear in bold, while local properties are thin.
Thank you so much. I will try it with another project, and then weâll see⌠Maybe I write you again!
Martin, if you want to make sure all your custom properties from the score will show in your parts, do the following:
In Write Mode go to your first flow.
âSelect Allâ.
âPropagate Propertiesâ.
Repeat for every flow.
You need to do the same thing in Engrave mode as well, since there are different properties available in the two modes.
Yes, and as Engrave Mode does not have the Select All command, one needs to draw a big square to make a selection beforehand.
(If you do Select All in Write mode and then switch to Engrave, your selection should be persisted.)
(Thatâs true, but depending on your hardware specs and the size of the project, you might wanna get a cup of coffee while Dorico executes the switch to Engrave
).
Thanks to you Aaron, I am learning new things by the minute
