User rename channel insert plugins to describe its function

During production I will often load up a channel with multiple instances of the same plugin.

When revisiting the channel to make modifications I find some difficulty in ensuring I am editing the correct insert for the desired outcome.

For example I may have 2 Steinberg Compressor plugins on the same channel

  • Compressor A - Overall compression of audio
  • Compressor B - Side chain compression

Both of which show in the insert list as Compressor, they only differ by order.

I would like to be able to override the name of the insert and enter some limited free text to rename it.

e.g. “Sidechain Compressor”
