Using 2 synced Cubase instances with different settings

I’m currently running 2 synced instances of Cubase 12 on one machine by copying the .exe file. I am working on longer film projects, so this workflow turned out to be very nice for me - I can have single projects for each music cue and one mastersession with the film file and all exported stems in it.

Now my question is, is there any way I can save different preferences for each instance? Currently when I open both instances, I have to change the settings in one of them, probably it depends which instance I close first and which last (?). I need different sync settings, midi settings, I have to turn off my midi keyboard in the “master” session, and other things…

I know I could use an older version, but there are some features I would like to have in both instances… Is there another possible way for that? Where are the settings located?

All the Best,

I would also like to know how to do this. I do it on Reaper by using two different portable installs and it works great.
