Using CS12 as Transport and assigning actions

Hello,

I am trying to set up my Nektar Panorama CS12 to run VST Live so I don’t need to be at the computer while directing a musical. I know it’s only optimized for Cubase/Nuendo, but figured I could at least program the Start/Stop and a few other things.

I was able to get VST Live Pro to recognize the Start, but once activated it would automatically stop after a little bit of time then start again. I’m not sure if this is due to this specific piece of hardware, my ignorance or a combination of the two.

For reference:

I am running VST Live Pro 2.2.0.291 and running Sonoma on a MacBook Pro M1 Pro.
The CS12 loads these four:
“Instrument”
“Internal”
“Mixer”
“Plugin”

I can get the Play and Stop to work intermittently, though the play will just play for a second or two and then stop, then start again without touching anything. Had it working once, saved preset, went to my main project and loaded the preset, and it stopped working again.

I looked in Nuendo and tried to follow the Midi 1-4 settings it had if that helps.

Can you check internal MIDI monitor what and when is sent by C12 to VSTL?

Just for a first step…

Thanks! This is all I get when connected. I am able to program my Komplete Kontrol S88 MK III. It hits as on/off with the transport. But the Nektar just gives this.

@Kevinlogo unfortunately I personally can’t try this awesome controller yet. But as VL doesn’t using the API that Steinb. introduced a with recent Cubase versions, you need to create a custom mapping … found something here:

Important is somehow to create your custom controls using MIDI#CC’s only!! Simple MIDI messages can control the different items listed in VSTL under
Devices / Actions&Shortcuts /…

Thanks for that. I tried a few things and was still having issues, then heard back from Nektar that it won’t work. Which is okay, I’ll connect my Komplete Kontrol keyboard and give it a go!
