I am in the process of re-notating an antiphon for an upcoming liturgy and the note values between the chanted congregation/schola line and the SATB & organ accompaniment are different. Is there a way to accomplish something similar in Dorico? Please see the attached screenshot. @Romanos, have you encountered this before?
You could also do it with a custom notehead set that only has a half note notehead. Use New from Selection to create a new set from whichever one you’re currently using, then remove all the noteheads except for the half note. Apply this notehead set to the longer notes.
@asherber , the 2:1q tuplet did the trick. It never ceases to amaze me how many tricks Dorico has up its sleeves. Many thanks for the quick response and answer and for welcoming me to the forum!
Once you have entered one of those tuplets, you can copy/paste or Alt/Opt+click it into other positions and then repitch, which may be easier than entering a tuplet each time. Make sure you have selected both the note and the tuplet signpost.
Asherber’s ways are more correct, but another dead simple solution is to enter the longer values first and then enter the accompaniment beneath them and simply hide the extra beats of rests. I do this all the time since it’s faster (imho) than using tuplets.
