Using Dorico5 with NotePerformer without sounds + Installing Dorico5 shrinks Windows11 taskbar icons

I decided to re-install Dorico5 (Elements) on my Windows11 notebook.
Far from me to induce anyone to use this application, it is just to try NotePerformer.
In fact, on the NotePerformer support page itself many issues are listed, like i.e. the string tremolo problem.

  1. I would like to know if it is possible to play an imported Musescore4 piece (XML) with NotePerformer through Dorico5 without downloading the huge libraries, being that on the NotePerformer website they say that an internal sound engine is used.

  2. But I had to immediately repent because installing Dorico5 from the official desktop utility caused the system taskbar to change, being that the icons now are half-size.
Is it a normal behaviour of Dorico5?
Maybe this topic has been dealt with before. I do not know.

Thanks in advance

1 - Ok yes it is possible. I avoided the huge download and the playback happens with NotePerformer.
2 - I could not revert the icon shrinking. There is no setting in my system.
I think I have to deal with it.
I hope the installation program did not mess up with other Windows registers.

That sounds very unusual. Can you provide a screenshot of your taskbar?

Hello,
it is the same taskbar but with shrunk icons.
This is definitely a minor damage, but I do not like when installation programs mess with my system. I cannot assess if other settings have been affected.
I have to consider also the remote possibility of a simple coincidence, although it happened immediately after Dorico5 started after installation.

If you open the Windows Settings app and go to Personalization > Taskbar > Taskbar Behaviors, what is your setting for “Show smaller taskbar buttons”? I’m guessing it’s “When taskbar is full”, and the Dorico icon is the one that pushed Windows over that threshold.

What happens if you change that setting to “Never”, or remove a couple of the things in your taskbar?

Ok I found that settings item and solved the problem. Thank you.
The taskbar was far from being full, yet that happened, I think that this could also be a Windows11 bug.
Installing Dorico certainly added up on the taskbar, although there is still room. The screenshot image is cut on the left in fact. But there is space on the right too, as depicted.
