I’m switching from Sibelius to Dorico. I’m having trouble with drum sets. I’d like to be able to use my midi keyboard to input notes into my drum kit.
I mapped the instruments in the kit in Note Performer, and the notes in the score play back correctly, but I can’t play them from the midi keyboard. So I enter the rhythms using the on-screen pads or a random note from the midi keyboard, and move each note to the right spot on the staff manually.
I then tried building an instrument in NI Battery4, and setting up an instrument map which would play the same midi notes as the Battery instrument and mapped to the midi keyboard. When I play the midi keyboard I hear the notes from the Battery instrument … but seemingly random notes appear in the score, and they don’t play back with the desired Battery instruments.
If someone has a way to map a drum set to be played from a midi keyboard which will also enter the notes according to the defined percussion kit, I’d love to hear about it. This is something I used to be able to do in Sibelius, and it’s very frustrating that Dorico seems incapable of doing it. Thanks
