I have begun stepping into the use of the pattern editor with Drum Machine.
Initially this is an exciting module and I look forward to using it more often. However, I find it very annoying to find that a Save As option is not available in the pull down menu of patterns.
For instance I create a pattern, that’s fairly basic, rename it something like Snare+kick. Now I want to increase it’s complexity. So I have to Duplicate it, rename it to Snare+Kick+HH. and work on that pattern.
I find myself sometimes working on the original pattern and lose the simple pattern I started with.
I believe that it needs a Save As option so as not lose the first pattern but immediately identify the new pattern with out having to go through the rigmarole of duplication and reconstruction.
Has any one else come across this dilemma ?

Yes, I also miss the ability to save Pattern Editor presets.
As a partial workaround, I’ve taken to saving template MIDI tracks configured as Pattern Tracks, that I then route to other tracks (instrument, drum, sampler).
Hi Nico5.
We all seem to be able to come up with workarounds and make some progress. It just seems to me to be non intuitive for such an otherwise functional piece of kit. Hopefully there will be an update that will address this problem.
Its a silly “oversight” by Steinberg! You would have thought they’d enable it by now. Maybe they are saving it as a big new feature for Cubase 15.
I hope So.
