Using UR44 to sample computer audio into Maschine

Hi all,
I just got a new Steinberg UR44 audio interface! This is my very first interface, so I’m a little overwhelmed right now.

What I am trying to do is take audio off my computer (internet, itunes, podcasts, etc) and sample it in Maschine.
I have no idea how to do this. The UR44 also comes with Cubase, so I’m not sure if I need to implement that into this process.

Attached is the Maschine set-up.

When I go into sampling mode in Maschine,no audio is being sampled.
In the maschine:

  • Change audio Source to Ext Stereo
  • Change Input (I have tried all different inputs)
  • Change Mode to Detect
  • Lower Threshold

No audio whatsoever. Can anyone assist? Been fooling around this for several hours and no progress!

Loopback function might do what you want.

I’m on Windows. When I want to record computer audio I need to set the UR44 as the default playback device so that the computer audio is actually playing back through the interface. Then I turn on Loopback. If set up correctly you should see (and hear) the computer audio on channels 1 and 2. (UR Mix1 L and UR Mix1 R).
You probably want to use those as input in Machine.

Be careful not to create a feedback loop.
