Hello Cubase Forum, Is anyone experiencing a switch from Variaudio to Spectral Layers upon editing your first note in Variaudio? Ive never seen this before but hope there may be some default to specicfic editor when starting to use Variaudio. Thanks

This is a known workflow. When you load any ARA plug-in, it uses the source WAV file, not the one from the Edits folder. Therefore it applies to the source.
To avoid this, Bounce Selection after the VariAudio and Replace. Or Render in Place and apply the ARA plug-in on the Rendered Audio Event.
