I’ve bee patient and find many help and tutor videos need updating to current version of Dorico 5. There are many changes between versions that don’t match 5 anymore.
@hhazen1
In the older videos you have things positioned differently, and sometimes named differently (like Master Pages that are now called Page Templates). But the concepts remain basically the same (with new functionality added in the newer videos). Try to absorb the concepts and adapt them to the new user interface, To re-make all the old videos again would be too much for the hosts. And new video content is being added constantly, with the same concept readapted for the new versions. The software develops constantly and what is now up to date will be soon look different anyway. I learn much from the new and also from the old videos (rewatching them more times, and I also look at the publishing time, so I know what to expect about the UI). I also read the version histories of the major updates, so I can orient myself also with the UI changes that occurs from time to time. (Just some random thoughts…. )
@hhazen1 ,
Admittedly older videos about Play mode may be confusing, as Play mode underwent a rather major overhaul somewhere around version 3 or 4. SO definitely look for the most recent video(s) on that area.
Dorico does allow older User Guides and videos to persist for those who did not upgrade and may still use those older versions.
Anthony has for some time been planning a big new series of videos on Play mode, playback templates, expression maps, percussion maps, and so on. However, we keep finding other things for him to work on in addition to this video series so he’s not made progress as quickly as we would all like.
Thanks you. Dorico is fantastic. Looking forward to future updates.
