Hi Folks,
I’m a little confused as to the way Dorico assigns volumes to notes in the piano staff.
There seems to be no rhyme or reason to the assigned volume levels. In the same bar note volumes vary wildly.
Am I missing something?
Oh by the way, I’m using a mouse to enter the notes.

Maybe uncheck this under Library->Playback Options.

Hi Jesper,
I had a look and it’s already checked.
Hi Jesper,
Tried that to no effect.
This is what I have.
The numbers in the squares are the MIDI volume values.
Thanks.

Also turn off this under Library->Playback Options->Dynamics.
If it’s a MIDI Import or if you enter notes with a MIDI keyboard, you can select all, then Play->Reset Playback Overrides.

You can pm me the file if you want.
That won’t affect the volume; but there are certainly faster and easier methods.
Using the mouse I’m afraid it does effect the volume and in a random way. as I have shown

Did you also turn off the other checkbox I showed in my previous post?
“Use pitch contour emphasis”
Jesper
You’ve shown that the note velocity is varying; but the cause is as yet undetermined.
If you want to PM me a document, I’d be happy to have a look at it.

I’m pretty sure it’s the “Use pitch contour emphasis”
You can see the velocities vary according to pitch.

Uncheck this box under Library->Playback Options->Dynamics. @OzMazAU
