VCA CC Automation nightmare

I am getting another whole level of trouble now, when exporting a audio mix down, CC data is being weirdly transferred to the automation part of the track in project window, and being influenced by the movement of VCA faders. After export, my mix NOW SOUNDS DIFFERENT and is wrong.

I am running to a deadline so I cannot investigate this precisely today, but I will return with more facts.

Main thing is, since introducing VCA faders to instrument tracks, all hell has broken loose.

Best practice when using VCAs in Nuendo is (in my opinion) to always have automation points written on both the VCA tracks and the tracks that are being controlled. If you have that then behavior should* be predictable.

Do you have automation on both?

*I have not used VCAs for instrument tracks.
